And the Lord’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the Lord was gone.Numbers 32:13
The old people of America denied the country “Medicare for All” (by voting for Biden against Bernie) even as they force us to pay for their medical care and retirement. And even as they put the country in $23 trillion in debt (soon to be $25 trillion). To add insult to injury, if they see us outside while they’re shopping they hyperventilate that we are trying to get them killed.
They are a wicked generation. Nevertheless, we must do everything in our power to help them. First, old people and those in high risk groups (high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, etc.) must aggressively isolate. They say to their kids, “Don’t worry about us, we’ll be fine. Take care of yourself.” And we believe them and then they sneak out to go shopping. Italy has nearly 1000 deaths per day of old people who got infected well after the state of emergency was declared in the country. They ignored the warnings. They should have stayed home, not lied to their kids about not going out. Now the entire country is paying the price. We must not make the same mistake.
Ultimately our society needs to develop herd immunity to protect them. This can take a few months. In the mean time, young and healthy people should be recruited to treat COVID patients with minimal protection so that they get infected, and otherwise aggressively isolate. That way they will develop immunity in a couple weeks and not infect others. They are unlikely to experience any significant complications, and even if they do, there will be a thousand of their cohort to treat them. We will soon have an army of invincible health care workers.
The Coronavirus hysteria is peddled mostly by the medical industry to make us reliant on them and to profit handsomely. They gravely intone: “Don’t minimize this – even young people can get infected.” Well of course they can! But they rarely get significant complications. We are at war with an invisible enemy. But instead of a fatality rate of 20%, it is closer to 0.1% for the young and healthy. These are excellent odds, and I for one gladly volunteer to enlist.
The crisis is also aggravated by socialists as a pretext for government control: “This is why we need Medicare for All!” No, this is exactly why we don’t need it. The program only encourages people to develop pre-existing conditions and to get sick so they can benefit from the system. Otherwise they are the healthy chump who has to pay for herself plus everyone else. Also people can’t speak out against excesses and abuses in the monopoly because they could get blackballed and denied care entirely.
And once sick, they can demand the entire country shut down so that they can go out shopping as they please, and then get online and relentlessly berate anyone who objects.
Of course, republicans also are trying to exploit the crisis as a pretext for government power. The DOJ is now seeking emergency powers to detain people indefinitely.
The country will soon be in $25 trillion debt. This is almost insurmountable. It will cause massive inflation and the country will be paying it back for decades. As a creditor, China loves this because it weakens us and enslaves us to them. They are a foreign power undermining faith in our institutions by inflaming the hysteria, even as their society develops herd immunity and quickly returns to work.
The older generation screwed the country over, and yet we still cater to them. Why? Because they better than anyone know which buttons to push to silence us. They ‘have our number’. But we shouldn’t tolerate it any more. It’s time to speak out. One silver lining in this crisis that afterwards looking back, young people will get tired of being sacrificed for the sake of their elders, and decide that if they can’t have “Medicare for All” then no one will: “Medicare for None.”
Old people are still going out shopping and making unnecessary doctor visits. Why? Because it’s free: Social Security and Medicare pay all their expenses and liberate them from the oversight of their loved ones. Even worse, many are bitter and angry at the world and want to destroy it. But when confronted they can just plead disingenuously, “I was hungry” or “Oh I didn’t know I should stay home.” Of course, any American would gladly help their elderly neighbor. There is no need for any to go out.
Preventing $100,000 hospital bills should be a motivation, even though most people think, “Well I’m not paying for it.” We must aggressively isolate the elderly and infirm for a few months and not accept any excuses. This should not be done by the government: use of force will backfire because it’s too easy to ‘unintentionally’ spread the disease. Instead it should be through family and community pressure. We are all too willing to let our parents off the hook and appease them and say, “I’m isolating at home too.” But what is the point of protecting people who don’t want it? It’s a losing battle: if you’re bailing out a sinking ship you must also plug the holes – and tackle the person who’s creating them!
In times of war, normally young people are asked to make the ultimate sacrifice. But this time it’s up to old people to ‘Neflix & chill’ for a few months. It’s the least they can do and it’s shameful that so few of them are willing to advocate this. Instead they complain about people getting too close to them – implying it’s our fault if they get sick. They are extremely selfish and manipulative. They need to stay out of public areas!
We are also too quick to make excuses for them:
- “Old people aren’t paying close attention to the crisis.”
- “I worked hard to convince my father to stay inside.”
- “Many elderly are lonely and just want to see others.”
- “They only go to ‘senior shopping hours.'”
Of course these are all true, but do we really want to burn down the country to avoid dealing honestly with such people? They may not have taught us tough love, but surely we can teach them.
We are wrecking the economy and destroying the financial security for hundreds of millions of Americans (and getting fat and sick from all the food we hoarded) – all to protect people who not only don’t appreciate us but left us with insurmountable debt. They are a far greater threat to the country than Coronavirus.
Ultimately the hysteria is likely to backfire on old people. Young people will put an end to Social Security and Medicare, which serve only to alienate the recipients and make them dependent and resentful. The richest generation in history will have to take responsibility for the mess they made and start being more generous. This will actually make families stronger and more resilient for when this crisis happens again. And it will.
They have dealt corruptly with him;Deuteronomy 32:5
they are no longer his children because they are blemished;
they are a crooked and twisted generation.
Do you thus repay the Lord,
you foolish and senseless people?
